Since my brother is a kidney transplant donor, I had addressed Dr. CM Thiagarajan about the possibility of donating his kidney. My case was complex since I had to have a bypass operation, which changed the tissue match from being negative to positive after I received blood transfusions. In order to obtain a tissue crossmatch negative result, Dr. Gandhi suggested plasmapheresis treatment.
