What does it mean if my tumor is “benign”? Is that still cancer?

If you have a benign tumour, it's like having an unwanted thing that stays in one area rather than taking over the entire area. It develops slowly, stays where it started, and usually has distinct borders - similar to a stone under your skin.

A benign tumor means it’s not cancer. These tumors don’t spread to other parts of the body and are usually not life-threatening. However, depending on their size or location, they may need to be removed if they press on important organs or cause discomfort.
