If an abdominal hysterectomy is recommended to a patient, they must ensure to practice the following steps before surgery:

Medicine: A patient must inform the doctor about any medications they are taking before the surgery. The medical specialist may ask to discontinue certain medicines for the time being.

• The patient is expected not to indulge in any strenuous activity like heavy lifting.

• The patient may experience vaginal bleeding and discharge, post-surgery.

• The doctors and nursing staff will provide instructions on how to take medicines.

• The patient will be encouraged to take walks after some time.
