Parents have dedicated their lives to taking care of their kids. They consult with doctors and physicians to ensure that their kids don't fall sick. However, any illness manifests itself through a variety of symptoms. Here are ten signs of illness that you as a parent need to keep an eye out for:

1. Rash

Children who play outdoors a lot are vulnerable to developing skin rashes. It is one of the most common health problems children suffer from. If you see any rash marks on the face, nose or exposed areas, you must immediately visit the doctor as it could be a symptom of a serious illness. Often, it can also indicate an allergic reaction to plants, or an insect bite.

2. Breathing problems

If your baby is having breathing difficulties like heavy breathing or if the baby is "grunting" while exhaling, you must not ignore the problem and immediately rush to the doctor. This could be anything - from sinus issues to a severe nasal passage obstruction.

3. Redness or bleeding

This is another way to know if your baby is ill. If you notice that the baby's navel is red or if you notice bleeding from the extremities, it can be signs of infection.

4. Cold

The common cold is caused by the virus and it can affect children of all age groups. You must look for signs like constant coughing, a runny nose, and loss of appetite. While the average cold is rectified by a trip to the doctor and a course of prescription medicine, persistent or recurring cold could be an adverse symptom that you need to get checked out.

5. Vomiting

Children usually "spit up" during or after breastfeeding but constant spitting up, or vomiting is a sign of a bigger problem. Also, if the color of the vomit is green or red it may be due to dehydration and you must get medical attention.

6. Diarrhea

This is common among babies. If you notice your child is passing stool more than 5-6 times a day or is passing blood in stools the problem may be much serious than you think. Diarrhea can be the result of an infection of the stomach and can result in dehydration unless Oral Rehydration is administered.

7. Dehydration

Children often suffer from dehydration due to poor feeding, or if the child has the fever. Symptoms of dehydration include dry mouth, no tears while crying, and urinating less than usual.

8. Fever

It is usually caused by infection. You can ascertain if your child has a fever by checking the temperature of the baby. If it is more than 100.3 F then you must visit a doctor immediately.

9. Sore Throat

It usually occurs in older children and it usually side-effects of cold or a cough. If your child feels discomfort while swallowing or is throwing-up dry cough, you must consult your doctor.

10. Croup

This is another common sickness among children and it usually occurs during a certain period in a year. It can be recognized by the sound of the coughing; if it sounds hoarse you must get medication to ease discomfort.
