As any person with cancer knows, a cancer diagnosis also affects family members and friends. Sometimes, the complex feelings and lifestyle changes caused by cancer and its treatment become as overwhelming for others in your life as they are for you.

Cancer has the greatest effect on marriages and other long-term partnerships. After a cancer diagnosis, both individuals may experience sadness, anxiety, anger, or even hopelessness.

Mental strength won’t postpone death, sorry, but many people say they feel they have a better life with a positive mental attitude.

Mental strength is important for two reasons.

    1. It helps the patient to maintain a positive attitude. This makes the patient feel better. It makes the treatment, therefore, more tolerable.
    2. It gives the patient the ability to forge onward. A willingness to go through the tough treatment is essential for the success of a treatment. Without mental strength, there cannot be the solid will required to continue when things are overwhelmingly difficult. Mental will can over-rule emotional issues like negativity, sadness, fear, etc. This is the reason that it can postpone death.
