Hepatitis viruses cause the body to mount a strong initial response like hepatitis A, E and sometimes B when get eradicated completely. When you give interferon to Hepatitis C patients, they would encourage the body to mount a stronger response to the hepatitis C virus and thus getting rid of it. Hepatitis C is the virus that is in for the long haul. It works on the liver for years, until the liver burns out and you get burned out liver disease, also called cirrhosis.
