Dr. Abi Abraham M is the Director of Nephrology and Chief of Renal Transplant Services Nephrologist at Institute at VPS Lakeshore Hospital, Kochi. He is an internationally recognized doctor in the field of nephrology and kidney transplantation with 25 years of experience both as a clinician and academician. Dr Abi Abraham M is an expert in the field of nephrology, renal transplantation, critical care nephrology, reducing the progression of Chronic Kidney Disease (CDK), Lupus Nephritis and Vasculitis, fluid and electrolyte disorders. He set up the Department of Nephrology and Renal Transplantation at VPS Lakeshore. He carried out nearly 1300 renal transplants in Lakeshore hospital in the past 10 years. He also treated several complex kidney problems and under his leadership, the Nephrology unit conducts the maximum number of Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT). He worked as Associate Professor of Nephrology in Christian Medical College, Vellore. He also held positions such as Secretary of Nephrology Association of Kerala (NAK) and Executive committee member, Nephrology Association of Kerala. He is a member of the International Society of Nephrology, American Society of Nephrology, European Renal Association – European Dialysis and Transplant Association (ERA-EDTA), Indian Society of Peritoneal Dialysis, Indian Society of Organ Transplantation, and Indian Society of Critical Care Medicine. His qualifications are MBBS, MD (General Medicine), DM (Nephrology), and DNB (Nephrology). He holds more than 10 scientific publications in various journals along with three prestigious fellowships from Hoechst AG-1991 and CMC research fund.
