Dr. Arvind Kumar

Dr. Arvind Kumar belongs to the group of leading Robotic and Thoracic Surgeons all over the world. He is the one to pioneer Robotic Chest Surgery in India, at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in the year 2008. Presently he is working as Chairman - Chest Surgery, Chest Onco Surgery and Lung Transplantion at Medanta The Medicity, Gurgaon. Medanta The Medicity, Gurgaon, under his guidance has received the reputations of Asia's first hospital to deliver successful Robotic Vascular Surgery. He Started his medical journey with his MBBS degree at the prestigious All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi in 1976, bagged the coveted best undergraduate of the year award in 1980 and Sir Hira Lal Gold Medal for being the best post-graduate which eventually followed his faculty career at the esteemed AIIMS, Delhi. Simultaneously in the early 90s, he picked up General Thoracic Surgery as his specialization and started doing surgeries in the same area. Over the years, Dr. Arvind has been awarded with various recognitions, including prestigious ICRETT (Cancer) Fellowship, and twice the coveted WHO Fellowship in 1999 and 2007 respectively. A seasoned doctor, his forte is to perform Open, Thoracoscopic as well as Robotic Chest Surgerery, and is also trained in Lung Transplantation which has not yet been performed at any center in India.
