A Padma Shri award-winning medic, Dr. Ashok Vaid, Chairman, Medical and Hemato Oncology, Cancer Institute at Medanta The Medicity, has authored many publications, research papers, and abstracts. He has been actively involved in organizing various seminars, workshops, and conferences across the country. Dr. Vaid has also conducted more than 40 international and national studies in clinical research. Having carried out the first 25 bone marrow transplants in any private sector hospital in North India, Dr. Ashok Vaid has carved a niche for himself as a pioneering medic in the field of bone marrow transplants. Before taking up chairmanship at Medanta, he was the head of the department of medical oncology at Artemis Institute, a senior consultant and coordinator of medical oncology at Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute and Research Centre, a medical oncologist and lecturer at Government Medical College, Jammu.
He is the founder member of the Indian Cooperative Oncology Network, a life member of Breast Cancer Foundation of India, Indian Association of Gynaec Oncologists and Indian Medical Association. He is also a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, European Society for Medical Oncology and European Haematology Association. He has also been on the Editorial Board of ‘Current Trends in Asian Oncology’ and a consultant editor at JK Science.
