Dr. Chakrapani B.S has completed more than 6000 invasive cardiac surgeries. He was a member of the pioneering group in India that introduced the practice of primary angioplasty for acute myocardial infarction. He has also worked at the TATA Memorial Hospital in Parel, Mumbai, where he gained experience in nuclear cardiology. Dr. Chakrapani is renowned for his proficiency in complex procedures and knowledge of the most recent technical developments. 

He skillfully oversaw the Karnataka ICCU on Wheels initiative in 2000 and started the Tumkur Cardiac Care Centre. Modern amenities, including Pre-hospital thrombolysis, pulse oximetry, temporary pacemakers, ventilators, and tele electro cardiology, were available through the ICCU on Wheels initiatives. It was a collaborative effort with Rotary Midtown of Bangalore, Manipal Hospitals in Bangalore, and the Tumkur and Manipal Heart Foundation. This enormous effort brought affordable cardiac care right to the doorsteps of rural and semi-urban residents. This project coordinates risk classification, ICCU, and transfers the patient to MHF for emergency coronary angioplasty and other treatments. It also streamlines crucial patient care from H2H or home to hospital.

The CSI Group Award was given to Dr. Chakrapani B.S. for his outstanding work in cardiology. At conferences for cardiology, Dr. Chakrapani has presented and published many publications. He holds lifetime memberships in the Indian Medical Association, the Cardiological Society of India, the Association of Physicians of India, and the National Academy of Medical Sciences in New Delhi.
