Dr. Mathew Jacob is a Senior Consultant - HPB & Liver Surgery, Liver Transplantation in Aster Medcity Hospital, Kochi. He completed his basic training in medical from the Armed Forces Medical College in Pune following which he moved to the UK where he gained valuable experience in Hepatobiliary and Transplantation Surgery. He also underwent his basic surgical training at the Yorkshire School of Surgery in Leeds and later in 2002, he was awarded the Royal College of Surgeons of England (London) research fellowship.
Dr. Mathew Jacob also holds the Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training (CCT) by the General Medical Council (UK) and joined St James Hospital in Leeds as a post-CCT Royal College Transplant Fellow. in 2011, he was also awarded the HESPERIS Fellowship by the European Society of Organ Transplantation (ESOT). Apart from general surgical and hepatobiliary procedures, he has also gained a rich experience in advanced procedures including surgery for gall bladder cancer, liver cancer, bile duct cancers, and pancreatic cancer. He also holds experience in laparoscopic liver surgery, liver transplantation including both cadaveric and living donor liver transplantation.
Dr. Mathew Jacob also holds a special interest in research work which includes transplant epidemiology and prognostic modeling in liver transplantation. Dr. Mathew Jacob has also worked along with the Department of Health and the UK National Health Blood and Transplant Services conducting extensive research in the field of Liver Transplantation.
