Dr. Muffazal Lakdawala is an Obesity Surgeon and one of the most well-known names in the area. He was born and brought up in Mumbai and perused his Masters in Surgery from B.Y.L. Nair Hospital and completed 3 years of residency program in general surgery, MBBS from the Grant Medical College University of Mumbai. Dr. Lakdawala also underwent training in Bariatric Surgery with Dr Raul Rosenthal, Cleveland Clinic, USA, 2006 and was also trained at the Unit of Gastro Surgery, with Dr Piet Pattyn from the University of Ghent Hospital, Belgium, 2005. His other trainings include Training in Advanced Laparoscopic Colorectal Surgery with Prof. Seon Hahn Kim, Seoul, Korea, 2004. Dr. Lakdawala is the Vice President, Obesity Surgery Society of India, and also the Chairman of the Worldwide IFSO Position Statements Committee. Besides these positions, he is also the Founder President of Asian Consensus Meeting on Metabolic Surgery and Board Member of AETF-Asia Endo-surgery Task Force. He has also been awarded for his achievements and some of his achievements include, Rotary International Award for young Achiever’s 2010; 'Humanitarian of the Year' Awarded by the All India Human Rights Association' 2007. Dr. Muffazal Lakadawala was also the Gold Medalist in Anatomy at First Year M.B.B.S.Dr. Lakdawala has also authored a chapter on Laparoscopic Gastric Bypass in a book on Advanced Laparoscopy first edition , Jaipee Publications and published several other research papers and documents. Besides his involvement in the field of medicines, Dr. Muffazal Lakadawala also played under 19 Cricket in Mumbai and is an avid cricket follower. Photography is his other area of interest.
