With more than 43 years of experience in teaching undergraduate and postgraduate medical students, Dr. Rakesh Khazanchi currently heads the division of Plastic, Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery as the Chairman at Medanta, Gurgaon, Haryana. He was the Secretary General of the 15th World Congress of the International Confederation for Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery (IPRAS 2009). Dr. Rakesh Khazanchi has led 22 research projects and published more than 60 papers in national and international medical journals. His contribution extends to authoring four chapters in textbooks and a book on plastic surgery for general surgeons. His major areas of interest comprise cosmetic surgery, reconstructive microsurgery, and vascular malformations, replantation of amputated parts, and head and neck reconstruction. Before joining Medanta as the Director of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Dr. Rakesh Khazanchi was a Professor and Head of Plastic Surgery at AIIMS, the Head of Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery division at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital. He completed masters in plastic surgery and general surgery from CMC Ludhiana and a fellowship in microsurgery at the Microsurgery Research Centre at St. Vincent’s Hospital, Melbourne, Australia. He has been the President, the former Vice President, and the Founder Secretary of the Association of Phonosurgeons in India. He is the Founder and life member of the Indian Society of Reconstructive Microsurgery as well as the Brachial Plexus Surgery Group of India. He is also an eminent life member of many medical groups in India.
