Dr. Somesh Desai has been in medicine for more than 18 years. In 1997, Dr. Desai graduated from Medical College in Vadodara with an MBBS degree. He earned his MS in General Surgery from Vadodara's Sayajirao General Hospital Medical College in 2000. 

The Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology, Trivandrum, granted Dr. Somesh an M.Ch. in Neurosurgery in 2003. Dr. Somesh also received fellowship training in neurosurgery from Professor Andrew Kaye in Melbourne, Australia, and further neurosurgical training at Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute of Medical Sciences.

Dr. Somesh is a consultant in the neurology and neurosurgery departments at the Apollo Hospital in Ahmedabad. Before this, he had ties to the Nizam Institute of Medical Sciences which is in Hyderabad and the Hinduja Hospital in Mumbai. The first surgeon in Hyderabad to conduct artificial disc surgery was Dr. Somesh.

Additionally, he is recognized as Gujarat's first epilepsy surgeon. A comprehensive epilepsy program led by a team of neurosurgeons, neurologists, physicians, and psychiatrists was established in Gujarat as per the doctor's vision, allowing patients to get all their care under one roof. Additionally, he hopes to educate the general public about epilepsy and surgery.

His fellowship at The Royal Melbourne Hospital in Australia, where he had the chance to study with Professor Andrew Kaye, widely regarded as the top brain tumor surgeon in the world, was one of the significant turning points in his path.
