Recipient of the prestigious Padma Bhushan Award, Dr Kler was associated as Head of Cardiac Sciences Department he worked in Saudi Arabia and established a Cardiology Unit in one of the tertiary care centers there. With a vast experience of over two decades, Dr. Kler is a Scientific Advisor to the many reputed organizations, including the Boston Scientific, Medtronic, Guidant, and the Medical Concepts - all Incorporated in USA.
After completing his MBBS from Patiala, he pursued MD in Internal Medicine and DM in Cardiology from PGI Chandigarh, and MRCP from UK. Dr TS Kler has been awarded the Fellowships of the American College of Cardiology (FACC), the Royal Colleges of Physicians of the United Kingdom (FRCP), and the Senior Fellowship Program in Milwaukee, USA. Dr TS Kler has a special interest in Complex Coronary Angioplasty using Advanced Techniques, Cardiac Pacing & Electrophysiology, implantation of devices for treatment of Heart Failure, as well as Cardiomyopathy. Dr Kler performs close to 2000 Cardiac Diagnostic Angiographies and around 300 Angioplasties including Stenting/Atherectomy/Rotablation every year.
The Founder President of the Heart Rhythm Society of India (HRS), Dr TS Kler has many firsts to his credit. He established the first state-of-the-art Electrophysiology Department in India was the first doctor to implant Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator (ICD) in the year 1995 in India. He implanted the first Heart Failure Device (Biventricular Pacemaker) in South East Asia in 2000 and he was the first doctor to implant Combo Device (Combination of ICD & Biventricular Pacemaker) in South East Asia in 2002. He was also the first doctor to start the Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA) Program in Sri Lanka & Bangladesh. He arranged the first Indo-Pak Heart Summit in Amritsar in 2004 and was the first to implant an ICD in the Punjab Institute of Cardiology in Lahore in the same year. A seasoned doctor, he is associated with many organizations, including the North American Society of Pacing & Electrophysiology (NASPE), Indian College of Cardiology (ICC), Cardiological Society of India (CSI), Association Physicians of India (API), Indian Medical Association (IMA), and the Delhi Medical Association (DMA).
With more than 130 publications in National & International Journals in the field of Cardiology, he has also written chapters in many books. A member of the editorial board of the Indian Heart Journal, Dr TS Kler has been bestowed with many prestigious awards. He was awarded The Great Son of India Award and presented by the Internationally Recognized Talented Indians (FIRTI) of the Sahibzada Ajit Singh Academy in 2003, the Vijay Ratna Award given by the India International Friendship Society for enriching human life & outstanding attainments, the Citation awarded on behalf of the Escorts Heart Institute (Delhi) presented by Dr APJ Abdul Kalam (President of India) in December 2002, and many more.
