He finished his fellowship in head and neck oncology surgery from a renowned institute in Mumbai and his post-graduation in otorhinolaryngology from a reputable institute in Karnataka. Dr. Rao also serves on the executive board of the State Association for Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, Karnataka,members of the National Executive Committee for the Foundation of Head and Neck Oncology (FHNO); and a member of the Action Council against Tobacco (ACT) - India. These are just a few of the roles that Dr. Rao holds. In addition, he edits the Journal of Precision Oncology, and he has been published in more than 100 national and international journals. Several accolades have been bestowed upon him, including the Varshada Kannadiga Award 2018 (Kannadiga of the Year) in recognition of his services to science and technology, and the Kempegowda Award, the highest civil award granted by the Bengaluru Corporation.
