With the vision of Shri. B.Nagi Reddi, Vijaya hospital was established in 1972. It was one of the first multi-specialty hospitals that came into being in Chennai. The bed strength has grown from 30 to over 750 beds in the past 46 years. The facility has 150 beds dedicated to the intensive care unit. The unit has a well-integrated system of doctors, nurses, technicians and other support staff. It aims to provide physical and emotional care apart from the required medical care. The laboratory complies to the quality management system of the complex. It is accredited by the NABL and ISO15189:2012. New tests and methods are constantly introduced and worked on to meet the demands of clinicians and patients.
The radiology and imaging facilities uses high end equipment and technology. MRI studies, CT scan, color doppler, digital radiography, mammography, video endoscopy are some technologies used. The neuro lab uses EEG, EMG and EP.
Electro therapy is used for rehabilitation. The Foot clinic uses specialized foot scanners for diagnosis of foot issues.
The complex is proud to open the first private milk bank in whole of Chennai. The need for milk arises for preterm and sick infants.
Medical Specialties
The institute has a total of 10 major specialties. These are Anesthesiology, Heart Care, Orthopedics and Trauma care, Oncology, Surgery, Ayurveda and Ophthalmology.
The Medical specialty consists of general medicine, emergency and critical care, neurology, nephrology among many others.
The Maternal and child care department focuses on two specialties - gynecology and obstetrics and pediatric and neonatal care.
The institute also has Preventive Health Check up for specific age groups, conditions and issues.
Admission Process
The patient has to get himself registered when they come to the hospital for the first time. The receptionist helps with the registration process. A unique number is then generated which is used to avail services. This registration number has to be renewed once every year.
For the admission process, the admission help desk will assist. An admission form will have to be filled by the patient. For any individual below 12 years of age, the parent/guardian will fill the form. The Consultant's admission orders are required to be submitted with the form.
An initial deposit has to be done before admission based on the room and service requested. A receipt will be given and this amount will be adjusted at the end. For cashless payments you will have to contact the insurance desk and get a pre-authorization letter from there.
Financial arrangements will be to be done for any planned hospitalizations. Interim bills will be given on a regular basis. Deposits will also be intimated to the patient from time to time.
Patients can pay by Cash/ Credit cards/ NEFT/ RTGS/ demand draft. Payments are only accepted at the cash counter.

Laboratory - The laboratory functions 24x7 and is an integral part of diagnosis and provision of specialized care. The OPD laboratory services are open from 0700am to 0800pm. The patient can collect sample in the Causality department beyond working hours of the sample collection service.
Some services under the lab are microbiology, pathology, biochemistry, blood related test.
Radiology and Imagine - The most advanced imaging services for intervention and diagnosis are available. A team of expert clinicians, nurses and technicians work together to provide accurate results.
Clinical Nutrition - The department is responsible for educating the patient and their families about healthy diet and nutrition. The nutritionists have experience treating diet related issues, metabolic disorders and weight problems. The diet intake is monitored after careful assessment and diagnosis.
Rehabilitative Services - Rehabilitation goals are formed for patients according to their conditions. The entire team strives hard for the quick recovery. Both inpatient and outpatient services are available with proper follow up instructions and modifications on the basis of individual needs.
Foot Clinic - Screening and diagnosis of foot problems is done at this centre. Problems like foot deformities, callus, corn, flat foot are treated here. Diabetic foot is also managed by this centre.
Blood Bank - Over 7000 donors every year donate blood at the Blood bank. Donors can donate from 0900am to 0500pm everyday. Visitors and families are educated and motivated regarding blood donation. Before the blood is sent to the patient, all precautionary tests are done.
Mother's Milk Bank - This is a private milk bank which provides milk to sick infants and preterm babies. A mother who is producing extra milk can donate it here.
Pharmacy - The pharmacy is well stocked with drugs, medicine and nutrition supplies. The pharmacy is open 24x7 and is within the premises.
Food court - Vijaya Bamboo Corner offers vegetarian food to the patients and visitors. Food is prepared keeping the safety standards in mind.
