Gynecological problems are common from the starting of the menstrual cycles. Be it irregular cycles, heavy bleeding or spotting, girls face these problems from a very young age. Rightly said by Dr Preeti Rastogi,
Over time, women learn to listen to their bodies, adopt their lifestyle according to what's best for their health and manage their gynecological problems.
Here are 5 common gynecological problems that women around the world may face at least once in their lifetime:
#1. Ovarian Cysts
The ovary is a pair of reproductive glands located in the pelvis of a woman, about the size of a grape. These glands are responsible to produce eggs and hormones, meaning they regulate all female characteristics such as body hair, breast formation, and body shape. More often than not, ovarian cysts (sac-like structures, varying in size and type) can form around or on the ovary, hampering the normal functions, during the monthly cycle. They may not necessarily represent a tumor. In fact, fluid-filled cysts are usually nothing to worry about, while other types of cysts should be monitored cautiously. These type of cysts usually disappear within months. Read more: Ovarian cysts - Signs & Symptoms, Types & Treatment
#2. Dysmenorrhea
Dysmenorrhea means excruciating menstrual cycles. A lot of women, and some gynecologist in bangalore, fail to acknowledge the abnormal intensity of the abdominal pain due to cramps in the pelvic area. Cramps start usually a bit before or after the onset of the period can possibly continue on for three days. The pain is mainly caused by the strong contractions in the uterus, that can lead to a loss in the oxygen supply to the uterus. But there are some relief ladies, dysmenorrhea becomes less painful with age and for some lucky ladies, it completely disappears after having a child.
#3. Endometriosis
Endometriosis, a common gynae problem, is a condition where the growth of the tissue takes place on the outside of the uterus, or anywhere else but in the uterus like ovaries and fallopian tubes. Unfortunately, the cause of this condition is still unknown. Symptoms include chronic pelvic (and surrounding area pain), infertility and even stomach digestion problems. #4. PCOD (Poly Cyst Ovarian Disease)
PCOD is a rather common condition where the follicles produced by the ovaries do not mature into eggs. This results in the formation of cysts. Such a situation leads to no fertilization because of the lack of proper eggs. The cause of PCOD is yet to be discovered. Common symptoms include hair loss from the scalp and hair growth on the face, chest and other body parts. Because of the disturbance in hormones, a person suffering from PCOD is expected to have mood swings and even depression.
