On August 28, 1997 I was diagnosed with embryonic rhabdomyosarcoma, which is a very rare cancer to have when you are an adult.
I was supposed to have had it as a young child. I went through 12 months of chemotherapy and after that I went through a bone marrow transplant for one month. Three weeks later I went through 7 weeks of radiation on my lymph nodes under my stomach wall.
I was cancer free for over 15 + years.
During the last 8 years, I have been dealing with radiation damage to my small intestine. I was diagnosed with chronic radiation enteritis which has no cure as of yet. In October of 2014 I noticed a bump on my neck. I ended up having surgery in November for a biopsy to see what was wrong.
The mass in my neck turned out to be cancerous.
After further testing they discovered I have colon cancer. A few weeks later I did a ct scan and colonoscopy. Those test results came back letting us know it is stage 4 colon cancer. I have one nodule in my liver and two in my left lung along with a mass on my neck and the tumor is officially in my colon.
Due to the mass on my neck, they have never seen colon cancer spread like this. They are basically saying my body made this type of cancer due to radiation damage which increased my risk of getting colon cancer. I have already done 3 chemo sessions and will be doing my fourth this monday.
From the last doctor's visit, my neck mass seems to be shrinking.
