A pretty smile showing off a set of beautiful teeth is what everyone desires these days. This has become possible with the help of invisible braces and retainers that are responsible for fixing one's teeth without making them feel conscious in the presence of their loved ones and acquaintances.

Invisible Braces

There are basically three varieties in clear braces:

Ceramic Braces

This type is almost like the regular metal braces, the only exception being that they are tooth-colored which allows them to merge with the teeth well. Sometimes, to refine the look further, the braces also use tooth colored wires. This gives the impression of invisible braces even when they aren't truly invisible. On the down side, they are a tad more expensive than metal braces and are susceptible to getting stained when not cared for.

Lingual Braces/Inside Braces/iBraces

Inside braces, as the name suggests, are the non-removable braces that are put on the inner side of the teeth, to make them perfectly invisible to people. This makes it difficult to clean them and care for. Moreover, the awkward position of the braces prolongs the treatment for regular adjustments. Apart from being quite expensive, they prove to be uncomfortable too.

Clear Aligners

They are a set of removable, clear aligners that neatly fit the user's teeth to provide a flawless look, and at the same time, allow the person to eat and drink what they please. These braces lack the potential to correct serious dental problems even when they do not compromise on their pricing. The pocket pinch one has to deal with when they lose their clear aligners makes it the less preferred choice amongst common users. Not only that, these clear braces neither promise a quick treatment nor are they available for children.

The invisible braces might not be adept at handling particular kinds of misalignment or complex bite problems, but it is definitely capable of correcting a mild overbite, a set of crowded, crooked teeth, or widely spaced teeth

Invisible Retainers

After the removal of braces, it becomes essential to have a system that would hold the teeth in its altered position and keep it from reverting back until the bite has stabilized. This job is accomplished by retainers; they keep the teeth straight.

The three types of retainers include:

Hawley Retainer

The Hawley retainer is a combination of moulded acrylic plate that custom fits the back part of the teeth, and a wire wrapped around the front of the teeth to secure its position. It is a strong, removable retainer whose color is customizable according to preference.

Clear Plastic Retainer

This type of retainer is made of thin, clear plastic, without the use of any wires, to custom fit the user. They are invisible and removable, but not fit for patients with the condition of teeth grinding.

Fixed Bonded Retainer

These are non-removable, invisible retainers that securely hold the teeth in place by using a wire that binds the teeth from behind.

Bid goodbye to the ugly metal wire frames that would mar your smile and welcome the invisible braces and retainers.
