What is Single Incision Hysterectomy - Uterus Removal?
It is a procedure in which the uterus is removed from the female body. Sometimes, the fallopian tubes and ovaries are also removed. This procedure is called salpingo-oophrectomy. Salpingectomy is the removal of fallopian tube and Oophorectomy is the removal of ovary.
In single-hole surgery, a small cut is made inside the navel (umbilicus). It is made in a way that the scar is literally invisible after the operation. The entire surgery is performed through a single small incision measuring about 1.5 to 2.5 cms.
