Dr. SS Iyengar is a devoted member of the Cardiological Society of India and the European Society of Cardiology. A fellowship was awarded to him by the Indian College of Cardiology. He has received many honors for his contributions to the medical sciences. He received the Director General of the Armed Forces Services Silver Medal. He received the prestigious Vishishta Seva Medal, or VSM, from the President of India in recognition of his outstanding achievement. 

The PM Naik Memorial Oration Award from the Cardiological Society of India was given to him by the Karnataka Chapter. He even earned the Indian College of Cardiology's Pharmacia Oration Award. 

53 publications by Dr. Iyengar have been published in national and international journals. In a paper he released, he detailed how 75% of heart failure patients arrive at hospitals beyond their scheduled arrival times. One of his major accomplishments is his other article, published in The Times of India's online publications, describing how a doctor prevents pregnant women from having heart attacks.
