Dr. Shankar Acharya

An expert in Spine Surgery, Correction of Congenital Bony Deformities, and Sports Related Injuries, Dr. Shankar Acharya is a Senior Consultant of the Orthopedic & Spine Surgery Department at the Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in New Delhi. Dr. Acharya pursued his MBBS & MS (Orthopedics) from the S.C.B Medical College, M.Ch from Liverpool, and DNB (Orthopedics), from the National Board of Examination. A member of the Board of Management of the Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, he has been bestowed with many fellowships, including the FRCS (Orthopedics) from Edinburgh & Glasgow, Spine & Deformity Fellowship from Birmingham in U.K., Monroe Levine Spine Fellowship from Denver in USA, Advanced Spine Fellowship from Neusdadt in Germany, Micomed Spine Fellowship from Munster in Germany, Senior Spine Fellowship from the Royal Orthopedic Hospital in UK, Orthotics NIRTAR Prosthetics Fellowship from Bhubaneswar in India, and the Travelling Fellowship of E. Merck-Johnson National from Mumbai in India. Vice President of the Delhi Spine Society & Ex-Chairman of the AO Spine India, Dr. Acharya is also a member of various other organizations, including the AO Spine International, Association of Spine Surgeons of India, Indian Orthopedic Association, World Orthopedic Concern, Orissa Orthopedic Association, Bombay Orthopedic Association, Indian Foot Society, AO Foundation Trustee, and the Delhi Orthopedic Association. Prior to joining the Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, he was associated with many reputed institutions in India & abroad, including the P.M.R. Hospital in Swindon (UK), Royal Orthopedic Hospital in UK, Fazakerley Hospital in Liverpool (UK), Bristol Registrar Rotation in UK, Safdarjang Hospital, G.B.Pant Hospital, LNJP Hospital & ESI Hospital, all in New Delhi (India), and the S.C.B. Medical College in Cuttack. Dr. Acharya also served as the Assistant Surgeon of the Department of Orthopedic and Spine Surgery with the Government of Orissa.
